KYLE RECORDING WITH THE "THE MEMPHIS MAFIA"
"The Memphis Mafia" - Left to right: Joel Shumacher (bass and lead guitar), Don Marrs (drums), Randy Smith (steel), Mike Lamm (guitar), and Kyle.
Centre: Bill Towery - the sound engineer LINK TO BILL TOWERY MUSIC - THE BEST RECORDING FACILITIES IN THE MEMPHIS AREA While in Memphis Kyle recorded with the above musicians. Joel Shumacher played with Jerry Lee Lewis for over 15 years and he has been a great help to Kyle - especially on these sessions that came just four months after Kyle had previously been in Memphis for Jerry Lee Lewis's 66th birthday party. Don Marrs was the drummer on Kyle's American sessions and he played for years with Jeaniie C. Riley before spending 10 years with Mickey Gilley. Randy Smith is a well known steel guitar player who has played around Memphis for years - often with sax star, Ace Cannon.. Randy and guitarist Mike Lamm both played a lot at the "world famous" Hernandos Hideaway and of course they consequently often played to entertain the club's most famous customer - Jerry Lee Lewis. One of the tracks Kyle recorded was an outstanding version of "You Don't Know Me" - a song previously recorded by two other great piano players - Mickey Gilley and Ray Charles. It goes without saying that Kyle's arrangement is totally different! KYLE HAS ALSO BEEN BUSY RECORDING IN SCOTLAND These two pictures show Kyle in the studio in Glasgow
The Scottish drummer is Stuart McLaren
