KYLE
PERFORMS WITHOUT THE PIANO!
HE DOES THE "ADDRESS
TO THE HAGGIS"
AT THE "OCEANA'S" BURNS NIGHT
Kyle was delighted to be the main attraction
on the front page of the ship's daily newspaper, the "Oceana
Today", on both Christmas day and on
New Year's day. See above pictures.
At his Christmas shows he was accompanied
by the "Kool Blue" trio and at the New Year shows,
Kyle was backed by the 7-piece Roger Carr Orchestra.
Kyle received standing ovations after each
performance and he was delighted that his blend of standards,
ballads, Country and of course his Rock 'n' Roll songs
delighted the audiences.
On New Year's Eve the ship held and "Advance
Burn's Night" - complete with haggis and Kyle was
unexpectedly asked if he could do the traditional "Address
to the Haggis".
Fortunately Kyle had seen his Dad, Joss Esplin,
a well know entertainer in Scotland, perform this traditional
recitation and humourous address to the haggis on many
occasions. Kyle performed his "address" wearing
a red Royal Stuart kilt and he even managed to drink the
mandatory whisky after "stabbing" the haggis. Kyle
repeated this extra entertainment duty in all four of the
ship's restaurants.
While performing on the "Oceana" Kyle
got yet another write up in The Stage Newspaper saying "Forfar
based keyboard vocalist Kyle Esplin has got the lot. An
energetic and accomplished approach, good image and lots
of musical talent."
Kyle really enjoyed his time on the "Oceana" and
thanks everyone who was on the cruise who has been in touch
via this website.
